[HELP] EMF Only Spiking When I'm Asleep??

Post by NightStatic »

Hey all,

This is either nothing or really something, and I can’t tell which.

I’ve got a basic handheld EMF meter — not fancy, not custom, just the standard one everybody here’s dragged through a basement at some point. Works fine… or at least it used to.

Lately it barely gives me anything. No readings, no flickers, not even the random house-wiring noise. It’s basically a paperweight when I’m awake.

But here’s the weird part:

It only goes off when I’m asleep.

I didn’t notice at first. I sleep with the thing on my nightstand out of habit. Few nights ago, I woke up to it buzzing like crazy — full needle spike. Thought it was a one-off, maybe a power surge or my phone messing with it.

But it keeps happening.
2–3 times a night.
Always when I’m out cold.

If I wake up fast enough to grab it? It drops to zero like nothing happened.
If I stay half-asleep and just listen? I can hear it humming.

I tried leaving it running in another room — nothing.
Tried recording it — mic picked up the hum but the video glitched right when the spike hit.

I don’t feel anything physically. No cold spots, no pressure, nothing touching me. Just the sound of the EMF throwing a fit until I’m conscious.

My working theories are:
– something is getting close only when I’m asleep
– or the meter’s busted, but that feels like the least likely at this point

I haven’t had nightmares. I haven’t woken up feeling drained. But I’m starting to dread going to bed because apparently that’s peak investigation time now.

Anyone ever seen EMF spikes tied to a person’s sleep cycle? Or something that only shows up when you’re unconscious?

I’d appreciate any input before I either stay up forever or duct-tape the thing to my hand.

What is is near on your nightstand? Could it be a mundane source of EMF. Always check the mundane first.

You said you haven't had nightmares nor feeling drained. Do you recall seeing anything odd in your dreams? like a person you don't recognize or something just out of sight?
