> Good morning, everyone.
I hope you’ll pardon the interruption, but I’ve run into a small household mystery I’d appreciate some thoughts on.
While making my breakfast today—just an English muffin, nothing out of the ordinary—my older Sunbeam toaster began producing a very high-pitched tone. At first I assumed it was simply the heating element straining, but the sound wavered in a way I can’t quite describe.
It wasn’t mechanical. It wasn’t electrical feedback. The closest comparison I can make is a kind of tinnitus-like ringing, but with an odd rise and fall, almost as though it were trying to form a pattern.
To be clear:
– The toaster is unmarked and has never misbehaved before.
– My wards are in place.
– No unusual smells, lights, or temperature shifts.
The muffin toasted perfectly, which is perhaps the strangest part, given the noise it made while doing so.
I’ve unplugged the toaster and set it aside for the moment.
If anyone has encountered appliances producing patterned tones, I’d be grateful for your insight.
Thank you, as always, for your time.
